Stephanie Meleounis, formerly Stephanie McHugh, grew up in Manchester, CT graduating from Manchester High School in 2001. She started dancing at the age of three and continued through high school. Over the years in her local studio, she studied ballet, jazz, lyrical, acrobatics and tap. Stephanie excelled the most at tap and quickly moved up into the advanced tap classes at a young age. She took her first master class with Savion Glover in 1998 and continued to pursue opportunities to study with well renowned dancers from then on. After high school, she attended Dean College to further her dance education. In college she studied ballet, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop. There Stephanie had the opportunity to study dance with Bob Thomas, Jill Silverman, Naillah Bellinger and guest artist such as Maurice Hindes, Derrick Grant, Josh Hilberman, AC Ciulla and Misty Cole. She graduated in 2005 with a BA in Dance. After college, Stephanie joined a modern company based in Boston, was hired as a choreographer for the Dean College fall musicals 2005-2008 and starting working for local dance studios in Connecticut. She continued to be involved in many different jobs whether she was preforming, choreographing, teaching weekly dance classes all while maintaining a full-time day job. Stephanie taught weekly classes including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics and modern. She also choreographed for competition teams 2005-2019.

She has won countless awards for choreography, entertainment, tap technique, musicality and more. After years of working at local dance studios and working a full-time job at Travelers Insurance, Stephanie decided that dance needed to be her full-time job. She decided to open a studio and share her love for dance with her community. One of the best joys in teaching is seeing your students accomplish their goals, conquer their fears and learn to be comfortable with who they are as individuals. There is nothing better than being able to experience those triumphs and know that you were a helpful hand in the process. It is so important for kids to be comfortable with who they are and knowing how to work hard for what they want in life. Dance teaches so many life lessons and can help kids through many of life’s obstacles. Besides focusing on kids, Stephanie is also passionate about sharing dance with adults. She became a UConn Choreographer for the Uconn Tap Team in 2018 and continues to work with them today. Her vision is to offer dance to adults as well as kids. Sharing dance with the community and having the opportunity to inspire the youth of today is the reason Stephanie has decided to pursue opening up her own dance studio, CT Dance Hub LLC.
